Dear Mr. Cobain,

Another year has passed yet again! Today you are 45 years young and despite the fact that you are no longer in this world physically, you will forever live in through your music, your fans, and the legend that you left behind. You graced us for only a short 27 years, sadly, and only five on the music scene, but no matter how short, there will always be a lasting imprint of you.

Your music has inspired myself, and millions of other adoring fans. You’ve left us with a sense of comfort; that being the odd one out isn’t always so bad, that having a bit of difference among our peers isn’t fucking horrible, it’s what makes us, us. Weird is fucking cool and that’s that.

You’ve taught us to embrace ourselves, to love one another unconditionally despite differences. We must remember to be open minded and not judge other’s shallowly. Today will be celebrated in your life, not mourned in your death. A day filled with your voice, through interviews listened to, albums played, and live shows watched, we will all be here, remembering what was taken only 18 years ago.

Kurt, we love you, all of us do, so fucking much and don’t you fucking forget that. You are loved and will be forever. You are cherished and will never be forgotten. We know you love us too. Smile old man.

So with this, Happy 45th Birthday, Kurt Donald Cobain. And let us remember and rejoice for many more to come.
